I use STLink-V3MINI.  According to documentation, it needs VCC (3.3) from the target device to recognize it.

But I noticed that the ST-LINK utility recognizes the target even when VCC is not connected.

Is it possible for the EBlink to work in the same way, ignoring if the VCC presents or not?

Thus the necessary number of STlink connector pins will become 3 instead of 4.
For some miniature applications, it will be a great advantage.

Jump wiring the VCC sense input at the dongle is no solution?

Hi,

Unfortunately, STLink-V3MINI has not 5V or 3.3V outputs.  So nowhere to jump.

As I understand you have shorted pin 3 (T_VCC input) to pin 5 (GND).
I do not think, that it is a good solution.
I think that he is jumping the VDD from CN3 to the T_VCC which is what I meant.

According eevblog post:

CN3-1 VDD
CN3-2 PA14 (SWCLK)
CN3-3 GND
CN3-4 PA13 (SWDIO)

I could not find the CN3 pinout or another reference in the STLINK-V3MINI documentation.
Please place a link to it.
I built this 3d printed box for the v3 mini, with a 3.3V LDO and 2.54mm pin headers. The yellow jumper connects the 3.3V to VTRef.
Nice!

I have considered using an internal resistor to tie 3V3 to VTref so if you use the VTref pin to connect to a target at a lower voltage the VTref would still do its job.  I use a 6 pin TAG-CONNECT on my custom boards.
