Since 2.0, the Alt- shortcuts seem not to work anymore.
I've used 1.1 for many years and many operations are natural like Alt-F O to open a file.
Being able to make menu choices without having to move a hand to the mouse is *so* useful.
Would it be possible to restore that functionality in a future release?

I'm not aware of any changes between 1.x and 2.x regarding the handling of function keys in general.
Can you give me some examples?

If there are alt-key combinations that should work but doesn't then it's a bug we need to adress.

P.s.
I just tried the ALT-F7 and that works.
